Our Story
History
Harley and Jackie Morlock, along with their daughter Ronna Morlock Mack opened Nellie’s Sweet Shoppe in the fall of 2007. Located on Smithville’s Main Street, across from the town square courtyard.
Nellie’s Sweet Shoppe is named for and dedicated to the memory of their daughter/sister Janelle (Nellie) Morlock Tebbs, who had been a 20+ year melanoma survivor.
Her life’s motto; “Take Time to Enjoy Each Day” is displayed above Nellie Sweet Shoppe's front door.
Fudge
Nellie’s Sweet Shoppe is known for it’s delicious fudge. Carefully made in small batches, the flavors seem endless! Harley the “Fudge-master” and Ronna the “Fudge-master’s Daughter” create monthly and seasonal flavors that include; Caramel Apple Pie, Pumpkin Toffee, Key Lime, Watermelon, Snickers, Root Beer Float, Dark Chocolate Caramel Sea Salt, Gingerbread, Peppermint Stick, Egg Nog, Butterfinger….as well as classics like Chocolate Walnut, Peanut Butter, Amaretto Swirl, Maple Walnut, Cookies and Cream, Cappuccino, Salted Caramel Swirl, Chocolate Mint and more! Harley estimates that he has personally made over 10 tons of fudge!
Ice Cream
Every day is an ice cream day! Nellie’s Sweet Shoppe carries Blue Bell brand ice cream in a variety of flavors and sizes. Waffle, cake, and sugar cones, cups, cute little baby cones AND a fun cake cone that holds 2 scoops next to each other. Hand-dipped shakes and malts (in any of our ice cream flavors), floats, and sundaes too!

Chocolates
Nellie’s Sweet Shoppe offers a wonderful selection of chocolates…Truffles, Turtles, Coconut Haystacks, Dipped Cherries and Oreos, Caramel and Marshmallow squares, English Toffee and more. Hand-dipped in the shoppe and brought in from select chocolatiers.
Bag and Weigh Candy
Step back in time. Scoop candy from glass jars and salt-water-taffy from wooden baskets. Mix, match, and create memories.
It’s fun to find candy that you enjoyed as a kid and share it with your kids and grandkids. We carry a variety of old time candies.
Growing up in Minnesota, I have such fond memories of walking with my allowance money in hand to the Cottagewood corner store near Lake Minnetonka and filling a little brown bag with treats
Nellie’s is a place to bring to mind, create and share similar sweet memories.

Craft Sodas
Such good people in the world. One of our kind customers came in to the shoppe one day and asked if we would be interested in a cooler that was taking up too much space in their garage….we just needed to come and get it. Wow….what an opportunity!! It was big and heavy and hard to move but….now we can carry a variety of craft soft drinks along with the classics. Polly’s Pop made in Independence MO is a favorite. Pop just tastes better from a glass bottle.

Melanoma Awareness and Information
In the front corner of the shoppe, we offer free brochures and educational information about melanoma.
We offer some special items for sale as well, with proceeds going to melanoma support groups. The notecards, pictures, and bags display “Take Time to Enjoy Each Day!” written in custom calligraphy by master penman Michael Sull.
When you throw change into our tip jar…..1/2 of the tips go into the melanoma donation fund and 1/2 of the tips are divided among our servers.
